Polar Star welcomes Ryan Bogadi, Systems Engineer. Ryan has over 10 years of experience as a Systems Engineer and Program Manager in the Intelligence Community. He is Six-Sigma and PMP certified and experienced with Agile Scrum processes.

Polar Star welcomes Jerry Murphy, as a Senior Systems Engineer working on the Scitor contract. Jerry has 24 years of experience providing professional engineering services, including systems engineering, system architecture, systems integration and project management activities. Jerry has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California State University in Sacramento, CA., and his M.S. Engineering, Telecommunications from George Washington University

Polar Star welcomes Martine Gobs, who began 2 May as a Principal Network Engineer. Martine comes to PSC from MITRE where she was a Senior Network Engineer. In addition to CISSP and CCNA certificates, she has completed Engineer-In-Training (EIT) work toward her Professional Engineer License. Martine holds a B.S., Electrical Engineering from University of Maryland, College Park, and an M.S., Electrical Engineering from George Washington University. Martine has vast experience in managing the full life-cycle of WAN networks from requirements, design, testing to deployment. She has designed and implemented performance enhancements to various network devices to support leading-edge customer wide-area network services. She is well-known and well-respected with our customer set and we are very pleased that she is now part of our family.

Polar Star welcomes Jennifer Jones who started 1 February as a Senior Program Manager. Jen has 10+ years as a project/program management professional supporting the IC Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) systems. She holds PMP and ITIL certifications and is an expert project manager in network engineering systems, operations and maintenance reduction efforts, and business processes. She is experienced with leading transition activities, managing stakeholders and integrated project teams, effectively communicating, controlling schedules, defining requirements, and managing scope. Jennifer holds a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of Mary Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Virginia Wesleyan College.

Rodney Mitchell is the newest member of the Polar Star team. He has over 30 years of Government and Industry experience as a professional in Information Technology (IT) systems, network & engineering with a diverse exposure across acquisition, development, deployment, transition, engineering and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) domains. Rodney has collaboratively supported IC working groups and engineering forums to address both IC and Commonwealth partner challenges in support of business and mission objectives. He has been an international liaison for cross site/cross agency network and communication engineering endeavors promoting ops efficiencies and mission effectiveness.

Chris Ayers has joined the Polar Star team as a Network Solutions Architect. Chris has extensive experience as a Network Engineer supporting the IC. He has many Certifications including CCNP, CCNA, JNCIS-ENT and JNCIA. Chris graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and minor in Business and he holds a Master’s of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Maryland Baltimore County

Robert Bain (Capt. USAF Ret.) has joined the Polar Star team as a Sr. Network Engineer. Rob has 20 years of leadership experience in engineering, program management, acquisition, technical and field service. He has 10 years of experience as a Systems Engineer within the DoD and IC. Most recently, Rob was assigned to the NRO where he was the CTO for the Network Services Group delivering high-speed/high-availability data transport services and network connectivity to global users. Rob served in Afghanistan where he was the Government lead for operations, maintenance and logistics of secure satellite communications. We thank Rob for his service and welcome him to Polar Star.

Rhonda Reed has joined the Polar Star team as a Sr. Systems Engineer. Rhonda has over 16 years of experience in the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community as a Software/Systems Engineer. Rhonda brings to Polar Star her experience in the areas of SharePoint, system analysis application development, database administration and technical writing. Rhonda is also an Adjunct Professor in the American Public University System for MS Word 2010, MS Excel 2010, Database Concepts and Management (MS Access 2010) and Algebra 1. She holds an M.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Maryland.

The 5th annual Enterprise Innovation Symposium returned to the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center in May. This year’s theme, “Cloud Security”, drew our largest number of attendees to date. Three excellent featured speakers and a diverse group of sponsors made EIS2014 the best event yet.

The latest installment of the Enterprise Innovation Symposium focused on Speed, Mobility, and Security - Shaping an Organization’s Innovation. It was held May 8-9th at the Washington Technology Conference Center in Chantilly, Virginia. Delivering new IT innovation, in today's budget environment, is being enabled and constrained by faster interfaces, wireless technologies, and security. Polar Star congratulates Dr. Wesley Kaplow on his selection to the AFCEA Cyber Committee. As one of the six AFCEA standing committees (Homeland Security, Intelligence, Cyber, Technology, Defense & Small Business), the Cyber Committee’s role is to coordinate and enhance AFCEA’s outreach to the cyber security community; and to cultivate a spirit of partnership among the government, public and private sectors that serve it. The Committee also serves as a forum to develop new ideas regarding cyber challenges and capabilities that impacts government (federal, state, local and international), industry and academia.

Colonel Nate White (ret) joins the Polar Star team. Nate has over 24 years of experience in the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community as a program manager and contracting office. In addition, he has operational experience in space systems and organizational-wide IT environments. Over the last 18 years Nate has supported the acquisition of complex systems and services as large as $900 million and provided inspired leadership for teams as large of 400. He brings to Polar Star his extensive background in managing systems and services that included IT, aircraft, spacecraft components, intelligence, and air defense. Nate is an award winning contacting officer and has negotiated over 100 contracts that range from air and space systems, IT, R&D, and services.

The Pacific Telecommunication Council Board of Governors, during its March 2012 meeting, appointed Robert Crinks to the Advisory Council to a term ending in January 2015.

The latest installment of the Enterprise Innovation Symposium is complete, and it was in every dimension the best ever. The presentations by government leaders, business leaders, and vendor representatives were not only informative, but were relevant to many of the problems that our government IT leadership face every day. The presentations were lively that sparked many though provoking conversations both during the presentations and during the breaks and reception.

Polar Star received a Letter of Appreciation from Ms. Jill Singer for exceptional network engineering provided to the NRO CIO's office by Dennis Darak. Dennis was the key network engineer that was responsible for the IC Common Operating Environment meeting its Initial Operating Capability milestone.The IC COE project is a key initiative in the IC ITE.

The 2011 Enterprise Innovation Symposium was a tremendous success. For a day-and-a-half over 100 participants listened to broad range of technology presentations and had the opportunity to interact and discuss issues affecting their agencies and businesses. Highlighted by the featured speakers, Dr. Pieter Poll from CenturyLink, Steve Cotter from Esnet, and Jill Singer CIO National Reconnaissance Office, the presentations not only highlighted existing opportunities, but also challenged the participants with homework to come up with solutions to problems that hinder productivity in the secure government workplace

Polar Star Consulting is selected as the network architecture and engineering lead for a major United States Trade Development Agency (USTDA) project. Working as a subcontractor to decision/analysis partners, LLC, Polar Star is providing detailed architecture and engineering support to a “green field” city development project in the Middle East. The project encompasses a full range of issues including consumer and commercial service offering development, physical infrastructure guidance, overall systems architecture, engineering design, and product recommendations.

Dr. Jason Rupe joins Polar Star Consulting. Dr. Rupe will lead Polar Star’s capability for Operations Research, Management Science, and Telecommunication systems modeling. He is a well known expert in reliability and availability analysis and is the managing editor for IEEE Transactions on Reliability. He has created models for commercial and government networks of national scale, providing real insight into performance, operations, and costs.

Dennis Darak joins Polar Star Consulting. Dennis has extensive experience in network engineering including architecture, design, engineering, and implementation. He has specific expertise in network security including network element hardening, encryption systems, and network management security components.

Polar Star hosts the 2010 Enterprise Innovation Symposium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Polar Star is selected as a major subcontractor under Scitor Corporation to support a major government customer. Under this subcontract, Polar Star will be responsible for the enterprise architecture, technology roadmap, technology insertion, and concept of operations for the customer’s communications and Information Technology systems.

Mary Battaglia joins Polar Star Consulting as Director of Security and Human Resources. Ms. Battaglia brings over 25 years of Industrial Security experience in all facets of the DoD and Intelligence Community security compliance. Ms. Battaglia has hired and trained security professionals supporting small to mid-size companies from initial contract award that have been recognized superior in their field with 100% award fees and the Cogswell Award.

Scott Knapp joins Polar Star Consulting. Mr. Knapp brings extensive Information Technology capabilities, having been involved with some of the largest and most complex hosting and data center solutions for the government.

Steven Goeringer joins Polar Star Consulting. Mr. Goeringer is a well known technology expert in the areas of optical transport systems and network security. He has applied this in the successful technology selection and risk reduction for both regional and nationwide government networks.
